Very nice. I know nothing of the Song period and shall have to look it up. I enjoy shorter pieces and I’m quite visual, so thanks for the gorgeous illustration as well.

I am like you…visual with short text! But as for the Song Dynasty…a little info: The Song Dynasty (Chinese: 宋朝; pinyin: Sòng Cháo; Wade-Giles: Sung Ch’ao; IPA: [sʊ̂ŋ tʂʰɑ̌ʊ̯]) was a ruling dynasty in China between 960 and 1279; it succeeded the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, and was followed by the Yuan Dynasty. It was the first government in world history to issue banknotes or paper money, and the first Chinese government to establish a permanent standing navy. This dynasty also saw the first known use of gunpowder, as well as first discernment of true north using a compass. For more info, amelie, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_Dynasty. Wikipedia, gotta love it! 🙂 Have a great evening. – Janet
